The Lift in Dubuque Iowa
I don’t think the tour with Bailiff could have ended in a more intimate and interesting setting. The Lift or The Busted Lift, not sure which is the most proper to call it, felt underground, literally. With exposed rock walls, and two full service bars and a unique stage and backdrop. The setting and energy in the bar that night was one I think most people there won’t forget. Shortly after arriving we discovered the locals in the bar that night lost a very dear friend who was just at the bar the night before, that said we knew this show would be one for the books. Overall, we had a great time, experience, and from the people dancing, guys hanging off the ceiling, and the crowds response, Bailiff put on a great show. The room sounded great and I personally look forward to the next time I’ll be able to stop in and have another couple drinks in such a fun speakeasy like setting. Here are the last two shots I took from the tour!
Redstone Room in Davenport, IA
The 2nd to last show on this tour took us to Davenport, Iowa home of the… yeah who knows! Bailiff’s show, audience, and event were fantastic. In the midst of a long banquet style room, the guys found themselves playing a fundraising event for a local man who was in desperate need of some upgrades to his handicap accessible van. It was a fantastic turnout and a successful event as they raised several thousands of dollars to help the young man. Several fans from previous shows made the trip out and we enjoyed the hospitality and support of the locals as we were winding down the tour. Our next and last stop on the tour takes us to Dubuque, Iowa.
Gabes in Iowa City
Day six of the tour with Bailiff was technically an off day, so day six is really day seven. Regardless of which day it actually was, the sixth show on Bailiff’s early 2015 tour was at Gabes in Iowa City, Iowa. A cozy an intimate venue with a lot of character which pleasantly surprised me by bringing out a great crowd on a early week night. We met so many new friends, and even had some folks from the local college radio station promote and attend the event. Despite Ren, breaking his snare this was one of my favorite shows from the tour. As you can see, some of us (Owen) needed some serious sleep at this point in the tour…
Vaudeville Mews in Des Moines, IA
Day five of the Bailiff tour took us to Des Moines, IA as I’m sure you already figured out. They guys played a venue called, Vaudeville Mews and I apologize for not taking very many pictures…
At this point in our trip, I came to the realization that I should probably shoot some video as well. As I set out for this trip with a camera in tow, if we are being honest with each other, I didn’t really have a game plan or a strategy for what I wanted to shoot. This whole tour with Baliff was really just a chance for me to get away for a bit, get to know the guys better, and help out any way I could. Beyond, taking a camera along, I really had zero game plan for what I wanted to shoot. Here are a couple of the shots from that show.
Bailiff Tour Day Five
After a great experience in Omaha, NE we hit the road for Des Moines knowing that things could get weird in Iowa and surprisingly enough, thats exactly what happened. Ren got behind the wheel of the van and led us to your standard middle of nowhere truck stop! A magical place where only the stallions and deer graze together. Tonight we are at Gabe’s in Iowa City and we’re really falling into the groove of things! Excited for another show tonight, then an off day in Iowa City!
