This past week I got to travel to Utah for the very first time. The job was for Westminster College in Salt Lake City, and I shot stills for their website, brochures, admissions material, and all sorts of promotional material that I’m sure many of you got from prospective schools as you were deciding which college to go to.
As beautiful as Utah is, the travel to and fro was anything but enjoyable. If I were to elaborate, this post would become extremely long winded so lets just summarize by saying, American Airlines has become my least favorite airline. Even so, I had a blast and enjoyed the adventure!
We had very little time to explore during the week, but once we finished working, on Thursday night Tom, John and I drove up to Park City, Utah where the Sundance Film Festival is held and had dinner. It was exactly what we needed after 3 days of nonstop shooting. This time of year its very low key and quiet with very few open stores or people milling around.
Friday morning we woke up early to drop John Burkett off at the airport to catch his early flight. Tom and I had a few hours before we needed to catch our flight so we went out exploring, checking out the Bingham Canyon Copper Mine, The Great Salt Lake, The Mormon Temple, and the Utah State Capital building. Not knowing if or when I’d be able to visit again, we crammed in as much as we could before catching our delayed American Airlines flight home, missing our connection in Dallas, and barely catching a plane flying into Indy. We decided it better to fly to Indy and then rent a car to get home around 2pm Friday evening, then to spend another second living in the Dallas Fort Worth Airport.
