June’s Michigan Brewery Tour
This past month a group of nine of us went up to explore the purity that is the state of Michigan. Our plan was to hit up three breweries in the following order: Darkhorse, Arcadia, and Bells. Below you can see bits of the trip and almost taste the goodness that was our beer and food.
Wireless lifestyle
There is no doubt in my mind our lives will be drastically different in the next ten years. Its amazing to be apart of a generation where technology innovation is advancing so rapidly, for most its hard to keep up. One day you get an iPhone which is the most amazing phone ever created and the next day you are cooking with wireless pots and pans. Yeah I said it, now see for yourself, conductive inks and wireless technology in action. Talk about revolutionary. I think the Jetson era will be among us shortly.
There are endless possibilities how these technologies can be used. The implications and abilities this wireless implementation gives us to use less energy, keep better track of our health, organize and priorities our lives is remarkable. Automatically detecting and when we are running low on a certain item and sending us notifications to our smart phones, email or even to your spouse who is only a few turns from the nearest supermarket. I could go on and on about how to use this technology. Are there any areas where you think it would be rather useful other then whats shown in this video?
Americans, proud or servile?
When I read stories of American citizens standing up for their constitutional rights and declining to go through backscatter machines or get their privates groped I get a odd sense of pride.

When I see video and stories like these, I shake my head thinking about the state of the American citizen and how easily they can and are manipulated.

New Macbook Air
I got my hands on a new macbook air today but let me first preface my experience with this. I have never liked small screens, light weight computers, or ever really seen a use for such a small light weight computer. Personally, I like my laptop computers to feel solid and sturdy and have a screen worthy of watching movies on without having to squint, my macbook pro does just that. With that said, the new macbook air is amazing in every aspect. It’s solid & sturdy, and the screen looks amazing! The full size keyboard has some new small added touches that almost alone make me want one. The up and down arrows on the new keyboard have a rounded edges. I know its doesn’t seem like much but wait till you touch it. The most exciting difference I noticed was the trackpad. It doesn’t lack at all in surface area department, but its feel was a 1000x better then the previous glass trackpads which I despise on the latest models of the macbook pro. Having a solid state drive and being almost the same price as a new macbook, I almost find this machine irresistible. Of course its not going to feel like an iPad but apple has definitely done a fantastic job making this new little device feel great in your hands. Gosh I want one! Thanks again Steve Jobs and Apple ruining my life!
Also here is a nice little app I found which lets you change the volume of your mac’s startup sound! How freaking awesome is that! click here
Garden Economics
Recently, Jon Foreman has been writing for the Huffington post. His thoughts, perspectives, and opinions are delicious food for thought. Take some time to read his lastest two pieces entitled “The Economy Of The Garden”. Click the image to read each piece.
Clifford J. Herring
My last living Grandpa was a man who loved life, enjoyed the pleasures of retirement, and expressed his love for family in the conversations I had with him before his death. He was a great example and inspiration! May you forever rest in peace. Now you can forever enjoy all the sweet tea your heart desires in heaven! You will be missed!

Dirty Fingernails
If you asked me when I was a teenager if I enjoyed to read, I would have answered, not at all! As I have gotten older, as education has become my primary focus, I find myself reading constantly. I read while I’m lounging, studying, or working. I do it from my computer, from my phone, from books, and from my iPod in my car.
During a break today, surprise, I was reading and what I read was fantastic. A great piece, written by Jon Foreman. Below is an excerpt and a link to the whole article. I encourage you too read it too.

My wife and I planted a garden this year. This tiny patch of dirt has become a space where small miracles occur daily. The slow and steady growth of the garden contradicts almost everything about our fast-paced world. The constant rush of the freeway traffic nearby seems to grumble in disagreement with the slow and almost imperceptible growth of the garden. The trucks roll through, the beamers and minivans fly past, and all the while the green fingers quietly reach for the sun. Slower than a speeding bullet, slower than the Internet, slower than a snail; the progress that these plants achieve has no advertisement, no PR. In fact, if I put my cell phone down long enough to examine the growth, it appears that nothing is happening. But gradually, a transformation has taken place; over the course of a few months, the ground has become thick with plants.
Lately, I’ve been thinking that maybe the human soul grows best at the pace of a tomato and not a combustion engine. Maybe the human condition has much more in common with this speechless greenery than I had thought. These silent life-forms really have a lot to say. These days, I’ve been trying to listen to the slow growth policies of the garden, this incredible place of new beginnings.
I’d loved to hear what you thought of this piece. That’s what the comment box below is for!
iPhone Users Get More Action
In a rather humorous article by Christian Rudder of Ok Trends, a rather large online dating database company. They reported, the Apple iPhone, takes better/more attractive pictures and its users have higher sexual activity then any other smartphone. I wasn’t too shocked by their report and I think Apple should consider using this in future marketing plans. Don’t believe me? Here is an excerpt from the “Don’t Be Ugly By Accident” article!
The chart pretty much speaks for itself; I’ll just say that the numbers for all three brands are for 30 year-olds, so it’s not a matter of older, more experienced people preferring one phone to another. We found this data as part of our general camera-efficacy analysis: we crossed all kinds of user behaviors with the camera models and found we had data on the number of sexual partners for 9,785 people with smart phones. We dropped what we found into Excel, and voila. Here’s the plot by age:
I encourage you to read the entire article as there is quite a bit of interesting information provided about smartphone picture quality. I have to give it up to Blackberry for coming in a surprising close second place!
Facebook Web vs. Facebook Mobile
Why is it, Facebook for my iPhone updates and displays more up to date content then my browser? I took a screen shot from my iPhone 4 and a screen shot from my Macbook Pro at virtually the same time. Why do they show different information? I find this annoying, does anyone else? I would love an explanation if anyone has one, please enlighten me!
Coasting With Mikayla
Spent the day @ Busch Gardens at the beginning of this summer, this was the first day!
The second day @ Busch Gardens I lost the very iPhone this video was taken on!
All good things must come to an end and it gave me a reason to get the new iPhone 4, so I can’t act to disappointed.
