Memphis
The 2nd leg of last weeks work trip took me to Memphis, Tennessee. I had a bit more down time here then in California so I tried to make the most of it.
San Diego
This past week, I headed out to Carlsbad, California for work. I was able to sneak away for a few brief moments in San Diego! Although, I didn’t get time to connect with friends like I’d hoped, it was nice to be able to enjoy the weather and beach for just a few moments.
NEWaukee
Just a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of hoping in an SUV on a weekday and driving five hours north to Milwaukee for an outdoor festival event geared toward revitalizing a section of Milwaukee thats been neglected over the past several years. The event was put on by a group of people who call their movement and company NEWaukee.
The trip was an overall success, exhausting, intentionally fun, and completely worth it. There was plenty of time for us to bond and share ideas with one another. It was a blast and I can’t wait till our next trip!
Rayland Baxter
Its never a typical Thursday night in Fort Wayne, Indiana when you get to drive downtown to watch incredibly talented musicians and a gifted songwriter play at The B-Side, an intimate softly lit brick lined room that sits off to the side of One Lucky Guitar‘s office space. Tonight, I got to see Rayland Baxter, son of Bucky Baxter, and a wonderfully gifted wordsmith. It was an evening lost in music and for me that can never happen enough! If you feel inclined look him up online and have a listen!
Bass #3
Decided I wanted to try out a new buzz bait with a trailer hook on it to see if I get a more consistent hook into the fish’s mouth, so I went out early this afternoon and cast a few lines. I wasn’t expecting much but snagged this guy after about 5 casts. A bit smaller then the last one but another goes down!
Bass #2
Im not in a rush to hook the largest bass in the pond but I went out back last night and snagged this beauty with a yellow buzz bait. It’s bass #2 of the year so far. They were really active and hitting on both worms and buzz baits.
1st Bass of the year
Went out to the pond behind my house and threw a couple lines in. Caught two blue gill and this, my 1st bass of the year. Let the hunt for the monster begin!
Salt Lake City
This past week I got to travel to Utah for the very first time. The job was for Westminster College in Salt Lake City, and I shot stills for their website, brochures, admissions material, and all sorts of promotional material that I’m sure many of you got from prospective schools as you were deciding which college to go to.
As beautiful as Utah is, the travel to and fro was anything but enjoyable. If I were to elaborate, this post would become extremely long winded so lets just summarize by saying, American Airlines has become my least favorite airline. Even so, I had a blast and enjoyed the adventure!
We had very little time to explore during the week, but once we finished working, on Thursday night Tom, John and I drove up to Park City, Utah where the Sundance Film Festival is held and had dinner. It was exactly what we needed after 3 days of nonstop shooting. This time of year its very low key and quiet with very few open stores or people milling around.
Friday morning we woke up early to drop John Burkett off at the airport to catch his early flight. Tom and I had a few hours before we needed to catch our flight so we went out exploring, checking out the Bingham Canyon Copper Mine, The Great Salt Lake, The Mormon Temple, and the Utah State Capital building. Not knowing if or when I’d be able to visit again, we crammed in as much as we could before catching our delayed American Airlines flight home, missing our connection in Dallas, and barely catching a plane flying into Indy. We decided it better to fly to Indy and then rent a car to get home around 2pm Friday evening, then to spend another second living in the Dallas Fort Worth Airport.
